Bison Band and Sun's Tribal Venture

Having done all we could for the Raven elder, the bison lift their nose to the wind and seek directions. This place, the coastal plains of SC, has nourished the senses of bison for 7 moons, and we wish farewell to the Live Oak, Resurrection fern, and Spanish moss spirits. The possibility of the Waccamaw Tribal Collective is still strong, the seeds have been sown, and now we trust the gods to allow it to flourish. Thanks to the Ishmael network we located many fine Ishmaelites who supported us in our search for a sustainable lifestyle, some of which, Paul “The Mole”, Leslie, and Sun, we consider honorary bison.

What have the gods brought the bison? Eighteen moons after trusting the winds to guide us, they have given us the scent of a truly sustainable lifestyle for many generations of bison to come. A tribal venture has been offer to us, and other “interns” at a certified organic tobacco and vegetable farm in the evening shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We now offer this to others, and this is the information needed to inquire.

Organic Tobacco Internships Available
Kettles Creek Farm near South Hill (Kerr Dam), Virginia grows certified organic tobacco for Natural American Spirit products. We have openings for several interns beginning May 2002 to assist in tobacco fieldwork and to help start a market garden. Interns will gain hands on experience in organic row-cropping, fertilization and pest control as well as basic tractor maintenance, cultivation, and irrigation equipment. Housing and a stipend of $200/week are provided. Interns will be expected to put in a full work-week (40hrs). Learning opportunities are O.J.T. Personal research projects may include variety testing in our developing market garden.

The bison have experienced this place. The gods, plant-spirits, and animal-people speak highly of the history and future of this 180 acre farm. Those who have a strong back and a stronger will, come join the bison in another adventure.
