| Posted: 04-21-2001 After a long migration, the bison return to their beloved river of song. This place, this little patch of Eden, is watched over by the three sister hemlocks, growing side by side, from the same nurse long. Two hundred feet below, beside this hurdy-gurdy creek, the bison reacquaint themselves with this community of life, this crease in the hand of the gods, this summer “hunting” grounds. We return to find our bison brethren, the dream twitcher, watching over this little patch of life. He withstood the winter, and has stories aplenty. We meet new spirits just arisen from the earth; corn speedwell, bastard toadflax, the wise calypso orchid, three different trillium spirits, plus many more just peeking up. The merganser, alligator lizard, and kingfisher people share our swimming hole, above which the melancholy winter wren builds her nest in the rich smelling pepperwood spirit. The bison travel to buck creek, along the ancient Yurok trail to find the medicine cave has survived another winter snow pack. We watch the does gather in the fields awaiting their long-antlered males. THIS PLACE, the tiny part of the hand of one-who-flows-through-all-things, is now both in the hearts and awaiting senses of this tiny bison herd. We send out a calm thoughts of those bison still on their path, running bare with his vision in the south, the Hinkle clan and their warm Oklahoma spring. To our “native healer” and his partner to the south we send close greeting and desires for communion. The great golden bear has provided for our nourishment and health care here in Del Norte county, and the libraries our overflowing with new stories for those bison desires. The bison are looking into picking lily spirits for some money for “jah-bless”, and we’ve made plans to help a goat team to repair some trails and shelters. The bison are prepared to welcome other tribes and clans, to enact the bison tribal venture. The dark green serpentine below the mighty smith river awaits one and all. Welcome to the evolution of the bison band. Dream twitcher, Gwagwagwe, Pen, Daisy, and Bison Yellow Ball wishing your rich dreams. |
